It has turned out that Pope Franciscus promised to the AKP government before not to use the word “genocide.”
Pope Franciscus said earlier on the 100th anniversary of the so-called Armenian Genocide that the first genocide of the 21st century was made to Armenians. However, it has turned out that Pope had promised to the AKP government not to use the word genocide while referring to the incidents in 1915.
The Armenian government reportedly invited Pope to Erivan to hold a mass for the anniversary. However, Vatican turned down the invitation, upon which the Armenian government proposed to have it in Vatican city. The ceremony will take place in Vatican on 12 April.
