The Crack Within the AKP to Deepen After the General Elections

The AKP MPs who were not elected to the party due to the "3 periods" ordinance of the party are reportedly preparing to form another party with the former President Abdullah Gül.

As the preparations for the upcoming elections on 7 June, it is reported that a group of former AKP MPs who were not elected to the party are getting ready to from another party with the former President Abdullah Gül. 
Some anonymous AKP sources told the Aydınlık Newspaper that: “The division in the party is growing bigger. It is clear that a big fight will take place after the elections on 7 June.” 
Some founding members of the party are said to be majority in the newly-formed party. They were not elected to the party due to the party ordinance which prevents members from running for the third time. They are reportedly close to the former President Abdullah Gül. They agree on the fact that the AKP will lose votes. 
One AKP member told: “It looks like the AKP will not receive a satisfactory result on the night of 7 June. They will look for someone to blame. Erdoğan and Davutoğlu will target at us. Oppositions will take part in the campaign in order not to let them do so. You see that some executives like Bülent Arınç are on the field even though they are not candidates. We will see what happens after 7 June. Oppositions think that time will work for their benefit.”
